Gazprom says gas output falls by 8.6% to 238.4 bcm in Jan–Jun

MOSCOW, Jul 1 (PRIME) – The output of Russian gas giant Gazprom decreased by 8.6% on the year to 238.4 billion cubic meters in January–June, the company said in a statement on its Telegram channel on Friday.

Gas exports to the non-CIS states fell by 31% on the year to 68.9 billion cubic meters.

Gazprom also said that Europe needs to pump additional 40.5 billion cubic meters of gas into its underground storages to reach the level before the 2019–2020 heating season from 31.9 billion cubic meters as of Wednesday.

Exports to China via the Sila Sibiri pipeline increased by 63.4% on the year in the period, the company said.

Gazprom also said that global gas consumption dropped by 24 billion cubic meters on the year in January–June mainly thanks to a fall in the E.U.’s demand by 27 billion cubic meters.
